Externships 2022 Timeline

  • Student registration opens October 25, 2021 and closes January 3, 2022.
  • Students can begin ranking host sites on January 4, 2022, and rankings must be submitted by January 11, 2022.
  • Alumni and students will be notified of their match by 5pm on January 12, 2022.
  • Virtual Externships will take place throughout the week of January 31 - February 4, 2022.
  • In-Person Externships will take place in the Chicagoland area on February 1, 2022.

    • Student Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate student at Wheaton College.
  • Students must commit to participate in the Externship where they are matched.
  • Externs commit to contacting their alumni host once matched.
  • Externs must learn about their host and their company, and come prepared to ask questions.

    • Application Process and Matching

  • Students create an account on WiN to register for Externship Day.
  • Students can apply to match with up to five hosts. 
  • A resume is required to apply.
  • Applications will be reviewed and matched in early January.
  • Alumni and students will be notified of their match via email no later than January 12, 2022.
  • Students should initiate contact with their host and fellow externs as soon as they receive their match assignments.

    • Planning Tips

  • We cannot guarantee that you will match with your top host choice. Applying to your top 5 Externships ensures that you will match with an alumnus or alumna working in an industry most relevant to your interests. Some priority is given to students who submit their applications first.
